Welcome to 2008!

Finally, FLARE blog has been updated.

It took me like 3 hours just to do it. It's not that hard. Just deciding on the colours and all.

Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone. Indeed we ended 2007 with a bang and ushered 2008 with a boom! Haha. I'm sure we had a great time at the recent Watchnight Celebration.

Great news. Zone Congregation will be held on 18 January as my email said it. Pre-University Subzone is organising it. Definitely made my job easier.

So first and ONLY practice is going to be on 14th January 2008 at Dream Centre. Which room or hall? Yet to be determined actually. Will keep you guys posted.

Will send the song list soon. I mean real soon. Haha. Still confirming it. Still on test drive. =)

Anyway just wanna post up some reminders that we learned last year.

Preparations before practice:

1. Keyboardist: Module(s) ready if necessary, MIDI + Audio Cables ready
2. Electric Guitar: Audio cable(s), EFX Processor ready
3. Acoustic Guitar: One spare fresh battery ready (and capo), audio cable(s), EFX Processor (if any)
4. Bass: One spare fresh battery ready, audio cable(s), EPX Processor ready
5. Drums: Spare drum sticks + rods

Some reminders:

1. Know your song list and know it well
2. Confirm keys for each song
3. Confirm chord charts and random sheets
4. Know your signs and watch for the worship leader
5. Look at your worship leader
6. Dynamics
7. Interact with band leader if needed

Some items share back in June/July 2007.

Worship ministry challenges the character and attitude above everything else. Thus, most important key element in serving is of course, CHARACTER. Therefore, we must be willing to change. How?

1. Constant evaluation of attitude and character
2. Feedback culture (not kutuk yeah and must be tactful also with words because we are mere human beings with feelings =P)
   
3. Humility
4. Always come to the Lord and be HONEST about weaknesses and work on it
5. Must be hungry to learn and improve ourselves whether it is skills or even the heart for God
6. Don't give excuse for competencies -> Constantly striving for excellence

6 Key attitude that a team should avoid:

1. Jealousy
2. Rivalry
3. Bitterness
4. Critical & Complaining spirit (trust me, I'm working on it hehe =P)
5. The 'DIVA' attitude
6. 'Tak Apa" attitude

Always remember that:

1. We are to love JESUS more than our ministry
2. Serving is the small part, it is the live of the people/members
3. A worship ministry is a relational ministry rather than a functional ministry
4. Maintain a good spiritual life (quiet time etc)
5. Let's continue to mentor and invest our time in each other!

It's a new year! Let's expect new things from the Lord. Let us continue to serve Him wholeheartedly and Worship extravagantly for He deserves it! Amen??? Amen??

Now, that's TRUE worship!

I think I've learned a lot since the last year where I first took over FLARE. Nevertheless, still lots of area to improve on. So let us continue to challenge ourselves yeah? Let us grow more and more and more and most importantly, we need to be ROOTED! Amen?

Farewell Lot 81

After years of practicing in Lot 81, Flare finally bid farewell to Lot 81. We had our last practice session in Lot 81 yesterday night. All of us were sad. Well, Dexter at least. =P
